Joy woke slowly, stretching before she opened her eyes and then stopping short as she realized that things didn't sound, feel, or even smell right.

Jerking to a sitting position, she looked around with dismay to find herself in a tiny, comfortably furnished room, tucked into a pile of cushions and sheets on a broad windowseat that overlooked a patch of semi-tropical undergrowth.

The gentle beauty of the place was lost on her as she tossed the bedding aside and leaped toward the door. "Kurt??"

Her bay-brown cheeks darkened slightly as she went to set the table, and she cloaked herself in her wings. "Danke."

He smiled, fixed a plate, and walked over, presenting her with a plate of beautiful omlets and bacon, seasoned perfectly and in the shape of a smiley face.

He smiled and kissed her cheek gently.

"For you, mien liebe," he murmured, grinning before grabbing his own plate of mostly bacon and joining her, also bringing a large, ice cold pitcher of OJ.

"Zere vas zis also in ze fridge," he smiled, pouring her a glass.

"Ach." She gave her slight smile as her ears twitched, then looked through the window toward the ocean as she took her seat on one of the battered but sturdy seventies style kitchen chairs. "Hae ye any thought as tae vhy ve vhere brung here, Leibe?"

"Nien, but I mean to find out, as soon as I know you are well," he said.

"Och!" She tossed her head slightly as she reached for his hands in preparation to asking the blessing on the food. "Of course I'm vell. Vhy should I not be?"

"Just vorrying," he shrugged, taking her hands and bowing his head, saying grace quickly but thouroughly, before he finished and looked up. "You are vell, ja?"

She kissed his knuckles, then lay her cheek against them for a moment. "I feel fine, Leibe."

He smiled.

"Gut," he said, then blinked. "Eat."

She did so, slipping the slices of bacon onto his plate and enjoying the well-spiced omelet. "I need t'be findin' a Good Book. Missed me mornin' qviet time. Och but this is nice."

"I vill make sure to find us both von," he nodded solemnly, adding it to his mental list of to dos.

She ate carefully but quickly, then got her plate and stood, only to stop with her ears back in a puzzled frown. "There isnae any sink."

"Leave zem, I vill find a vay to vash zem later," he murmured, having teleported behidn her and leaned against her, taking her dish carefully and putting it with his own.

She turned her head to look at him, black eyes twinkling, then blinked as something heavy hit the tin roof and rolled down the side to hit the ground with a thump.

Kurt started, arms tightening around his love for a moment before he stopped.

"Stay here," he said, quickly going outside to look around.
