A mutant-friendly reality. The island of Kauai. A small house near a beach.

Joy woke slowly, stretching before she opened her eyes and then stopping short as she realized that things didn't sound, feel, or even smell right.

Jerking to a sitting position, she looked around with dismay to find herself in a tiny, comfortably furnished room, tucked into a pile of cushions and sheets on a broad windowseat that overlooked a patch of semi-tropical undergrowth.

The gentle beauty of the place was lost on her as she tossed the bedding aside and leaped toward the door. "Kurt??"

Joy emerged beside him like some angel of the deep, water rocketing upward with her as she tossed her head to clear her eyes.

Joy laughed and pushed his wet hair back from his face, the hair of her wrist mane already dry enough to cling to him as always. Then she gave another start of dismay. "Ach, ve've drowned the money."

He blinked as well, then teleported away, putting the money and his watch in the hut before reappearing by her. "A bank vill replace it. Vorry not, mien liebe," he smirked.

She nodded, then blinked and looked down as a small, bright fish swam past her legs. One hand shot out to grab it.
