Joy stretched luxuriously, then adjusted her pale grey shorts, smoothing the front panel that made them look like a mini skirt.

"Are ye comin', me love?" she called, stepping through the bedroom door. Then she froze as she wound up on the night-time street of a human city instead of in the hallway of the castle on the way to breakfast. "Aii! Kurti?"

"He go' rid of trouble for de trouble start," she said, nodding to a sign that told all customers that they could refuse service or peaceably evict anybody they need to.

"Sounds safer," Kurt nodded, Remie nodded with a smile.

"Dis a fam'ly resturaunt. Dere plenny odder places t' get drunk n' stupid. Dis place safe," she said.

"I meant that appearin' 'n disappearin' thing." Joy turned to watch as carried the offender out, ears still perked in amazement.

"Ah. Dunno. But he keep me safe a few times 'cause he can do it," she smiled warmly.

"It's vhy ve're called Shadow Fairies," noted Schalk, suddenly behind the counter again and leaning on it with both elbows. "The Professor gave us a few other things as vell, like enhanced healing."

"Ah," Kurt said thoughtfully, then looked at her. "Und you... you are X Men?"

"Dose negotiatin' goofs upcountry?" Remie blinked, then snorted. "Nah. Dere ain' much o' de fightin' X Men like in de odder verses. Here dey deal wit de muties who unleash hell on earth, otherwise dey don' got much t' fight."

"Och." Joy shook her head with wonder, her black eyes studying the other wingling. "But vhy?"

"He says he vas bored." Schalk shrugged.

"Says... ye ken the Professor!" Joy sat up with astonishment.

"Liebe?" Kurt looked at her, slightly worried she'd be upset.

"Whoa," she said, eyebrows raising as she looked at Schalk and then kissed his cheek.

"Does... he perhaps live aroudn here?" Kurt wondered.

The dark man ear-smiled down at his wife, once more folding her in his wing. Then he turned back to Kurt and shook his head. "No. He lives in another reality."

Joy had fallen silent, listening.

Remie smiled and nodded, leaning into her husband happily.
