Joy stretched luxuriously, then adjusted her pale grey shorts, smoothing the front panel that made them look like a mini skirt.

"Are ye comin', me love?" she called, stepping through the bedroom door. Then she froze as she wound up on the night-time street of a human city instead of in the hallway of the castle on the way to breakfast. "Aii! Kurti?"

"Ach." Joy blinked. "Ve've not spoken 'o it."

She was surprised by that realization.

Remie laughed.

"If he get all dopey jus' kiss him, n' you'll know by de reaction what he wan'," she said.

Joy chuckled too and turned back toward the bar. "'E usually does 'is gettin' dopey after I kiss 'im."

The shorter woman's bay brown cheeks darkened in a blush.

Then she looked back to Remie. "How did ye meet Schalk?"

"A fren' introduce me at a nexus bar. De nex' time I see him he saved me from an ex, n' den he ask me to marry him," she smiled.

"'N ye accepted." Joy cocked her head curiously.

"Yeah. Was 'bit overwhelmed at de time. T' think of it, proly wasn' de best time t' make a choice like dat. But I could feel how good he was. N' I needed him. N after we married... I dunno. It was jus' meant t' be. I love him more den anythin'," she smiled.

"Och." She ear-frowned. "He shouldnae 'o asked ye then."

"I needed him, and... I don't know, it just felt right," she said softly, smiling. "Whenever I touch him, when he protected me, when he felt pain for de firs' time n' I had t' care for him... it jus' felt like it was meant t' be... y'know?"

"Yeah. He mostly invincble n' has a healin' factor, but he never felt pain 'fore my ex put his claws through his wing," she said, sobering at the memory. "He was overcome by de pain for a little while."

"Och." She winced. "Yer Logan had the metal, then." Then she thought of the rest of the story, her eyes going to the men as Schalk gestured with one hand and explained to Kurt how badly he'd wanted to protect Remie from being harmed again.

"Aye." Her ears twitched softly. "I think yer right aboot t' meant t' be."

"Oui. N' we both felt it. N' when de feelin' dat strong, dat deep n' true... you don' argue wit it," she laughed softly, entering the dining area once more and settling down the plates. "An' it turn out right."
