Joy stretched luxuriously, then adjusted her pale grey shorts, smoothing the front panel that made them look like a mini skirt.

"Are ye comin', me love?" she called, stepping through the bedroom door. Then she froze as she wound up on the night-time street of a human city instead of in the hallway of the castle on the way to breakfast. "Aii! Kurti?"

She smiled and kissed him briefly, then nodded.

"I'll put out de recipee, den. Make Cookie happy."

"Danke," Kurt smiled.

Joy chuckled and added her thanks, then took a bite and went wide-eyed with delight. "Och!"

"I t'ink she likes it," Remie said happily.

"It's gut," Kurt's eyebrows went up as he tentively sampled it. "Spicy und strong... but gut."

"Aye, tis delicious." She ate eagerly, showing the incredible appetite that came with a high metabolism.

Schalk chuckled and offered Remie a piece, his embarrassment forgotten.

"De cook here likes makin' dese reciepies better," she smiled, taking the fish and eatting it comfortably. "He gettin' popular for it, too."

Joy ear-smiled, but then cocked her head, black hair falling over one eye before she pushed it back behind her ear as she remembered sleep times when Kurt had wakened overheated and gasping. "Aren't ye roasting in there?"

Schalk just twitched his own ears and wrapped his wings a little more closely.

"Ah, non, I like it," Remie smiled, cuddling close. "It gets too cold 'round here at night. N' he always makes me n' de bebe feel warm n' safe."

"Cauld...." Joy blinked, thinking of how the customers had been showing reactions to the humid heat. But she knew that different people felt heat differently. Then she twitched her ears at the last bit and chuckled gently as Schalk's ears and eyes told her that the dark man was blushing.

"I imagine it does get cold during ze vinter," Kurt nodded somberly.

"N' chills when de wind brings in norther breezes," Remie smiled.

"Ah." She ear-smiled and finished her meal, then blinked and perked her ears toward the door.

Schalk listened too, but heard only the usual New Orleans nightlife blaring away cheerfully. "Vhat is it?"
