New Haven: Family

Jay-Jay smiled as she walked out of the resturaunt she waitressed in, folding her apron and looking around, stretching and making her way down the road, spotting her husband in his usual place in the foodcourt. Children hung off him as he dozed, AJ held close and Isha not currently in sight. A sign with a collection pail beneathe it hanging near him read "Kiddie care, $5 an hour".

She smiled fondly, going over and hunkering down next to him, giving him a kiss.

"Hey, babe. Good day?" she asked. He rumbled and looked up at her, eyes twinkling as he slowly rolled over, sending the children climbing on him scattering and laughing as he displayed AJ, who Jay-Jay kissed. "Where's Isha?"

"There, that should keep you in clothes for awhile, Desdemona," said a small woman with an hourglass figure and cheerful brown eyes as she left the shop where the big doll stood in the window. The purple creature on her shoulder, who looked like a small, slender purple woman with a monkey's tail, didn't reply but only turned her head to look at Jay-Jay with bright green eyes.

"What?" The girl turned her head, and Jay-Jay would be able to see that it was the Mayor's sidekick, the youngest of the three or four Deputy Mayors.

"Evening, Miss," Jay-Jay smiled and nodded her head.

"Ah, no. Sorry. Wolvie pointed you out once." She paused. "Um... right, he told me to keep my distance because he wasn't sure how your husband would react to the McCoy in my scent."

"You're a McCoy," she said softly, then smiled slightly. "Don't worry about it. John would only get protective if a guy McCoy was getting too close. This is Isha, one of our kids."

"A McCoy and a Beast," she replied as soft, though there was pride in her eyes and voice. "Right now the only native Beast."

Her hand went out to touch Isha's back. "Uzulee."

"Only since before I was born. He's my honorary grandpa." Uzulee answered in kind, the expression showing hints of her famous ancestor.

"Whoa, that's neat," Jay-Jay smiled. "The female version here is my honorary mother, kind of."
