New Haven: Family

Jay-Jay smiled as she walked out of the resturaunt she waitressed in, folding her apron and looking around, stretching and making her way down the road, spotting her husband in his usual place in the foodcourt. Children hung off him as he dozed, AJ held close and Isha not currently in sight. A sign with a collection pail beneathe it hanging near him read "Kiddie care, $5 an hour".

She smiled fondly, going over and hunkering down next to him, giving him a kiss.

"Hey, babe. Good day?" she asked. He rumbled and looked up at her, eyes twinkling as he slowly rolled over, sending the children climbing on him scattering and laughing as he displayed AJ, who Jay-Jay kissed. "Where's Isha?"

"I'll eat anything." She chuckled and opened the bag to look inside. "Even things that make Wolvie turn green."

"Well, this won't do anything like that," she grinned, taking out her own meal, then blinking as John crept forward with a mighty purr and stopped straight behind her, making it possible for her to lean back against him.

"Heh, he sleeps like a cat." Uzulee cautiously touched the big man's fur and found it to be of a similar texture to her own unique fluffy fur. "Wow."

"Yeah. He doesn't talk much either, but he's a lot more conscious than people know," she smiled, leaning against him. "There's a genius under this fluff and muscel, I just know it."

"Well of course there is." Uzulee took a pair of chopsticks out of her sleeve and asked a quick mental blessing over her food before tucking into it. "He's a Beast!"

She smiled.

"It's hard to tell for people who first meet him, though, and he doesn't like to show it. I've never even heard him speak."

"There are other people here who don't talk. Mike's wife... you know that big centaur lady with the horn? She doesn't even have a language center in her brain."

She smiled. "Yeah, I guess so. I don't mind, though. He doesn't need to talk. He listens really well."

"Always a good thing in a man!" Uzulee laughed softly and gave John's shoulder an unthinking stroke, her heart claiming him as a brother.

He blinked, lifted his head, then lowered it and went back to dozing.

"Yeah. You can lean against him if you want. It's pretty comfortable," she smiled.

She scooched back and did so, then watched a little uncertainly as Desdemona calmly climbed over him and joined the twins. "Um, is that okay?"

Jay-Jay paused as the rumble stopped, but a moment later John sighed and pulled the Desdemona into a more comfortable position, then resumed his deep purring.

"Yeah, it's fine," she smiled. "Might take some convincing to let her go when you do, though."
