Goliath sighed as he walked through the door and found himself and his alternate in the hospital cafeteria. "I meant to get something to eat, but I'd forgotten."

A young nurse came up behind them and gently poked gargoyle Goliath in the wing. "Excuse me, please. I need coffee NOW."

Reluctant to attempt to start a conversation with Xanatos, Goliath instead re-entered the room with Lex and his counterpart. He decided to say nothing for the moment, offering comfort by means of his presence.

"Hudson went to the roof?" Goliath's voice was a low rumble as he spoke without turning.

"Yes. He said he needed some fresh air."

Goliath nodded and rested his elbow on the heart monitor as his head bowed. "Did she see you?"

It was easy to guess who he meant. There was only one woman in either world who could so easily be just called "she" without prior reference.

"She did. And proved every bit as strong-willed as her counterpart."

He smiled despite himself, though his eyes remained fixed on Lex. "The child was stirring."

Goliath nodded. "My experiences with expectant humans are quite few, but that does not come as a surprise."

"One would almost suspect that she was trying to second her mother's words and actions." He rubbed his forehead absently with the hand of the arm he was leaning on the heart monitor.

"Another daughter?" Goliath asked, almost absently.

"I think so. My Elisa avows it to be a son." He moved restlessly, wishing for some movement from Lexington... something to let him know that all would be well.

"Elisa is often right," Goliath said. "Though... not always."

He cast a glance downward at this counterpart to his Clanmate. Please, Lexington, friend... Give us some sign. Let us know you will pull through. Your loss would nearly tear this world's Clan apart.
