Gargoyles' reality. Manhattan General Hospital. Intensive care ward.
Goliath sighed as he walked through the door and found himself and his alternate in the hospital cafeteria. "I meant to get something to eat, but I'd forgotten."
A young nurse came up behind them and gently poked gargoyle Goliath in the wing. "Excuse me, please. I need coffee NOW."

"You vanished! Like, poof, gone!" The sandy-haired boy was shaking slightly. "I'd just ben going to tell Elisa."
The former gargoyle sighed and put a hand on the boy's shoulder. "I was not gone long, then?"
"No... no, not really." Ryan slumped, but then started and stared at gargoyle Goliath.
"This is my alternate, Goliath," rumbled Goliath, then turned to his twin. "And this is Ryan, Claw's adopted son."
"Hey, man." The boy extended his hand without thinking to offer a high five, but then blushed and withdrew it.

Goliath looked up to see why he was being so quiet and saw him staring at his twin. "Franklin." He shook his head and put a hand on his shoulder in reassurance. "This is... ah, you could call him my twin brother. He lives in a city far away."
"Twin brother?" The clone's childlike expression looked out of place on his craggy face as he looked at Goliath the gargoyle sideways.

"A good way of putting it," he said.

He growled slightly, frustration evident in the expression. "Maddening. Elisa spoke of what your Goliath told her, of how being human had brought such happiness into Lexington's life. And now that same thing may be the end of him."

Goliath sighed deeply and turned away to pace like some caged wild cat, his face scowling and absent.

"You deserve rest, Lexington," he said, very softly. "We all do. After all we have endured. But that is the easy way. To live is to have to be strong. And I know you are strong."

"Nothing yet." Lucy sighed.
Xanatos scowled and looked at Lex again rather than answer her, giving his injured friend a low-voiced pep talk before he turned his head to look for Goliath and started as he realized that there was a gargoyle in the room.
"Okay, what the @#$%&$#@#?" Fox frowned at Goliath.
"He's a relative from another clan." Lucy put her ears back warningly.
"I thought I'd met most of the other clans." The former mercenary's frown went a little confused.
"So did we." The mutate shrugged.
"Pretty strong family resemblance."
"You could say he's a twin... it's a long, weird story and I'm really not in the mood to try and figure out how to explain it. "But this is Goliath, too."
Xanatos cocked his head and seemed to study the visitor. "Hello, I'm David Xanatos, a friend of the Manhattan clans."
