Goliath sighed as he walked through the door and found himself and his alternate in the hospital cafeteria. "I meant to get something to eat, but I'd forgotten."

A young nurse came up behind them and gently poked gargoyle Goliath in the wing. "Excuse me, please. I need coffee NOW."

"You'll watch?" rumbled his twin wearily, knowing that he would be able to trust no one else, not even his Elisa, with the task. He himself was head of the clan; he had to watch... even if it wasn't strictly speaking he himself that did it.

Lucy shook her head silently, once more curled in the chair as one unused to free mobility would do.

"I will. I give you my word."

He sighed and got up from the chair, then went over and sat on the floor with his back in the corner. Despite his turmoil of emotions he was asleep nearly instantly.

"I'll go get a mat." Lucy sighed and hopped out of her own seat, vanishing as she did so.

All of which left Goliath alone with his thoughts.

Please... Fate, the God some humans pray to, even Anubis... if you can hear my thoughts, do not take this Lexington. This world would likely never recover should that happen.

"Help me get him on this?" Lucy was back as quickly as she'd gone, wrestling with a puffy sleeping mat that was too big for her and losing the fight.

Goliath resisted the urge to chuckle and instead rose to help, taking the mat from her easily and bringing it into the room.

A few careful moments later, he had his counterpart settled on it.

Lucy gently brushed a hand over Goliath's short-cropped hair, then got the blanket off the arm chair and put it over him before yanking off his shoes and setting them where he could find them. "At least when he was purple he had to sleep."

Goliath rumbled and stirred, but then settled down again, and she watched him like... well, a cat.

"My Elisa has often commented that becoming a Gargoyle insured she had no more sleepless nights," Goliath replied, offhandedly.

"Yeah, well, one of the first things ours taught this guy was insomnia." She lifted her head and perked her ears. "Good, there's Fox. That means David'll be in bed soon, too."

Goliath nodded. With the heartache he'd witnessed, it was good to see that, perhaps, Xanatos might yet truly prove trustworthy. Universes were not always the same, his own and this one were quite enough proof of that, but all the same...

"Insomnia... something I still find difficult to fathom."

She quirked one brow. "Then you probably won't believe me when I say I never sleep."

"No... just let me check on him."

"David, we're only going to the family room."

"I just want to make sure everything's as alright as it can be." Xanatos appeared in the door, his eyes going to the bed.

Goliath would indeed have trouble believing that, but the arrival of Xanatos prevents any response he had from forming.
