Remieverse - Quiet Night

Remie hummed a soft, merry Cajun tune as she carefully wiped down every glass, tap, and countertop at the bar, cleaning up while the buisness was quite. As usual a few familes were inside, enjoying a relaxing meal, and in the corner a couple men were anxiously watching the football game on a television, sharing nachos and beer and playfully warning eachother occassionally about getting drunk when the owner's wife was around.

Remie smiled to herself as a hand fell to her budding stomach, the smooth, growing lump warm and seeming to emmit its own energy. She smiled fondly, then sighed happily and sat with a virgin margurita to take the weight off her feet for a moment.

He twitched his ears and went to stand by the window with her as he did at night when he'd had enough of laying down and didn't want to leave her behind. His fathomless eyes were absent for a moment as he thought, but then he looked down at her and perked his ears. "Tony vas frightened even before Ettiene came, I think."

"Oui," she said, sighing. "Said somet'in 'bout a boss sendin' her down here 'cause he was forced t'. Didn' find her a place t' sleep or nut'in, de layabout."

"That vas an evil thing to do, but it vouldn't make that look in her eyes. Somevone's broken her spirit." He lowered his head and absently rubbed his cheek against her hair.

She frowned, one hand stroking his smooth chest absently as she thought.

"Den we'll have to see what we can do," she decided.

"Gut." His ears twitched in a smile, then pointed toward a young man who was staring at him openly and dropped his voice. "Ach! I've lost my shirt again."

She laughed softly.

"I think he's just impressed by the wings and mega-muscel," she said, grinning.

He looked at his arms. "I'm not that lumpy."

"No. But it's pretty obvious you're all power," she smiled.

"Er, excuse me," the guy's cheeks heated. "But, if you were looking for a shirt there's some in the giftshop."

"But vould they fit me?" Schalk looked at him and flexed his wings, which were one folded against his back and the other wrapped around himself and Remie.

"I'm sure you can find sissors to make holes," he said softly.

"Dey have some pretty big sizes," she said thoughtfully.

"Should ve go?" He looked down at her.

"If you wan'. I t'ink you look good no matter how little yoh wearin'," her eyes shone with a mischevious spark.

"I leave the decision to you, Leibe." His own smiled back at her even as he blushed furiously but invisibly.

She'd learn to sense it, and smiled.

"Alright. Let's get you somet'in t' wear," she smirked and kissed his cheek.
