Porthos studied himself in the mirror carefully as he readjusted his tie, then doublechecked to make sure that Brenda's pretties were all carefully stowed in the bag. That dress would look dashing on her, and withthe help he'd recieved picking out the shoes and jewels to go with it, he was sure to have the most dazzling wife at the resturaunt.

He grinned. This annaversery might pass by his love, but he was going to take her out tonight, no matter what it took.

Zipping the small bag closed after putting in a towel and some babywipes, he went downstairs.

"Here you go," he gave the bag and his coat jacket to Prudence, taking his own towel in which to wrap her in in his hand. "If you'll have the limo waiting, I'll be right back with my beautiful wife."

"Hmmm, true." The corners of her mouth turned up as she gazed at him and ignored both the question and the paparazzi.

He smiled back down at her, warm eyes twinking, and gave her a tender kiss.

"I'll got first and keep them off you," he decided. It was common knowledge that Brenda Wayne's new husband had no qualms when it came to dealing with pushy paparazii, and he felt better at being out and about to protect her.

"Alright. Be careful. Having to bail you out would spoil your plans."

"Of course," he promised, opening the door. As he expected the wave of cameras backstepped upon seeing him, but he smiled and held the door open, offering a hand to his wife to help her out.

Brenda quickly poked her feet into the strappy open toe pumps and fastened them, then slide from the limo and stood as regally as any young queen as she looked around with a faint socialite smile on her face.

He smiled and offered his arm.

"Shall we?" he murmured, grinning even as he shot a photographer a look that sent him right bac to the correct side of the entrance ropes.

The smile became real as she looked up at him. Her bubbly, slightly airheaded public persona was firmly in place as she put her arm through his and leaned her cheek against his shoulder for a moment.

He smiled and lead her safely through the crowd, walking into the building.

Boarding an elegant, spacey elevator, Porthos found his nerves had stopped up his throat, and he was barely able to give their names upon meeting the waiter. Quickly they were escorted to a very private table up on the second floor, facing a wall of windows that showed the sleepy Gotham, which was nearly at sunset. He sat her at the table, then took his own seat.

"The champagne you ordered, sir," a waiter said, pouring them both a tall glass of Brenda's favorite.

"Thank you," Porthos grinned, watching her anxiously.

She sipped thoughtfully, her eyes on her husband's face. "What's wrong?"

She chuckled softly, the socialite mask discarded in the absence of other people. "Yes. Of course."

He smiled, then looked up as the menu's were brought and the waiter bowed out again.

"Er... I got you this," he said, handing over a small box. He'd spent a while trying to find something that suited her, and he'd hoped this would do.

She opened the box and looked at the tiny silver floating heart and chain. "It's beautiful!"
