Patchverse: New room

Jubilee walked to and fro, staring at her newly refurbished, very pink, very comfortable room.

Her face portrayed how much these objects meant to her, and she couldn't stop exploring her room, holding the Pikachu plushie while she did, happily touching things. She paused when she sensed something tiny nearby, and got down on her hands and knees.

She peeked under the bed, then giggled when she saw a small brown mouse exploring the cavern.

"Hi there," she said, reaching a hand out to it. The mouse stirred, then turned and peered at her, and she grinned.

"Ah, no," he said, embarrassed. "I'm a mutant... you're an AI?"

"Yeah," she said softly, blinking, a little confused. "Um... oh, yeah, I am. Why did you dissappear?"

"That's my mutation. I put up forcefields, some of which make me invisible. That's... actually my natural state."

"Ohh," she said, then blinked. "Well, my natural state's frightning, so I understand perfectly."

Then she beamed. "Do you like candy? Shasta bought me these, but I can't eat them," she said, offering some Raisenettes to them.

"She probably thought you'd feed them to Kurt." Matt chuckled and held out a hand for some.

Kurt shook his head and waited his turn to reach, his attitude that of an older brother toward the younger man.

She grinned and carefully doled out the candy half and half for the two, then smiled as the movie got sick of waiting for her to hit play and started on its own. "I just thought I could use them to lure Arnold out."

Kurt chuckled and looked at the mouse in question, who was exploring the topmost level of his new home... by walking around upside down on the ceiling.

Jubes grinned as well, then turned and offered the last piece of candy, the one that had been the cause of the imbalance in the dividing of the goodies. She grinned, then tucked the candy into his food bowl. "There, that's for being so cute," she told him happily. "Don't eat it all at once, you'll get a tummy ache."

"He looks rather content with captivity," noted Kurt. "Methinks him not a wild mouse at all."

"Shhh, it's starting." Matt elbowed him in the side, eyes glued to the screen.

"Well, not many people mind a new home when they've finally got friends," she smiled at Kurt, then snuggled into her beanbag, eyes big and grin wide as she watched the opening credits.

They watched for several moments, Matt leaning forward with interest and resting his elbows on his knees, and Kurt curled up rather like a large cat as he purred softly.

Then Kurt suddenly looked up and stood to try and sneak out without distracting anyone.

Jubee blinked, then looked up at him a little sadly before waving goodbye.

Matt waited till the basement door closed, then said softly, "He's going to meet his wife."

She scooted closer.

"Is she like Wolvie's wife?" she asked.
