Patchverse: New room

Jubilee walked to and fro, staring at her newly refurbished, very pink, very comfortable room.

Her face portrayed how much these objects meant to her, and she couldn't stop exploring her room, holding the Pikachu plushie while she did, happily touching things. She paused when she sensed something tiny nearby, and got down on her hands and knees.

She peeked under the bed, then giggled when she saw a small brown mouse exploring the cavern.

"Hi there," she said, reaching a hand out to it. The mouse stirred, then turned and peered at her, and she grinned.

"You know... I've never even been able to figure out if Kurt has a sense of humor?" He watched as Doom tricked Ben into being turned human.

"Even if he doesn't, he's very nice," she said. "He gave me Arnold's cage."

He glanced up at it, amused to see a little nose and whiskers twitching above the bottom tray as Arnold watched the TV too.

Jubilee smiled, then put Pikachu under her head and watched the movie a while more, the battle scene making her start slightly and grin.

Matt settled down and was intent on the story when he caught the sound of Logan's footsteps above the sound from the TV. He looked up with a frown, then turned to Jubilee. "Can we finish this another time?"

"Sure," she said, then blinked. "Wolvie's home!"

She leapt up at once, grabbed her Pikachu, and bolted for him.

He was standing at the top of the stairs, wearing his jacket but no shirt and with huge holes and tears in his soaking wet jeans that hadn't been there when he left. His head was hanging and his eyes were closed; his expression that of utter exhaustion both physical and emotional.

He lifted his head slightly as Tikvah smoothed his wet hair back and sighed, then looked for Jubilee.

"Wolvie?" she paused, then put Pikachu down and ran up to him, reaching up to hug him, tears swimming in her eyes as she symphasized with him.

He held her close and hid his face in her hair, not saying anything but just drawing comfort from her nearness and Tikvah's.

She clung, trembling slightly, then turned and kissed his cheek.

"I love you, Wolvie, and Tikvah does too," she said softly.

"Yeah," he rasped, his arms tightening slightly. "Love you too, darlin'."

He was shaking himself, nearly dead on his feet and in danger of falling down right there on the landing.

Jubee frowned, then wiggled a little and let go, taking his hand. "Wanna nap on the couch?" she asked.

"Yeah... sounds good." He took a step and nearly fell over, his hand going out to catch himself against the wall.

She frowned and then got under his hand. "Lean on me," she said.
