Other Gargoyles-verse: Hospital: Checking Up

The ability to travel freely and unmolested in the modern world was a new enough concept to be novel to Goliath.  For Elisa, it was nearly heartbreaking.  She'd lost this world.  She held no reservations about the fact that she'd become a Gargoyle.  Though she had lost much, her relationship with Goliath, the Clan, and the lives she'd help save more than made up for it.

All the same, being able to simply walk through a human hospital and get only the occasional odd glance (some of which was no doubt due to their resemblance to the very human Goliath and Elisa Maza of this world), was a miracle indeed.

"Hope ah, Lex is okay..." Elisa said.

"Och." He looked at him. "Goliath said he'd a family there."

"Yeah. Kat's really good for him."

"What's she like?" He pulled his stool over and sat down, tipping it back so that he could lean against the wall.

"She's... calm, collected, really sharp. Hard as steal when she needs to be, but the soft touch when that's what's required," Elisa says. "Not to mention she can get Brooklyn under control with a look, something I've never been able to master."

Goliath continued. "She is from 16th century Ishimura. Brooklyn encountered her while being thrown through time by the Phoenix Gate. She chose to travel with him, having fallen in love."

"Och, she sounds not unlike Maria." Hudson chuckled.

"Huh. The more things change, the more they're still the same, I guess," Elisa said.

"Mayhap that's the only sort as can handle him." He glanced between them, thinking that it might be the only type to handle any gargoyle man.

"Wouldn't surprise me any," she said.

The telephone rang then, and Hudson started and picked it up. "Hello? Lucy... och, alright."

Looking confused, he offered the telephone to Elisa. "She wishes ta speak t' ye."

Elisa took the phone, confusion written on her face as well. Unlike Hudson, she couldn't even claim to know a cross-time version of Lucy. Of course, she was the only woman available, so perhaps that had something to do with it.

"Hello?"

"Hi, Elisa," came the tiny mutate's voice as the baby squeaked softly in the background. "Do you see my cellphone there anywhere? I remember having it before I got there, and now I don't have it."

"Hang on, lemme check," she replied, looking around the room.

And she couldn't have asked Hudson this... because of all the... stuff. But is that all this is about?

It was laying on the floor near where the bag of blankets had lain.

Hudson looked at her questioningly.
