Other Gargoyles-verse: Hospital: Checking Up

The ability to travel freely and unmolested in the modern world was a new enough concept to be novel to Goliath.  For Elisa, it was nearly heartbreaking.  She'd lost this world.  She held no reservations about the fact that she'd become a Gargoyle.  Though she had lost much, her relationship with Goliath, the Clan, and the lives she'd help save more than made up for it.

All the same, being able to simply walk through a human hospital and get only the occasional odd glance (some of which was no doubt due to their resemblance to the very human Goliath and Elisa Maza of this world), was a miracle indeed.

"Hope ah, Lex is okay..." Elisa said.

"Nope." She sighed and got up to walk back and forth. "Sorry. Aii, I hope this isn't going to disturb the neighbors."

"Don't apologize," she said. "No reason to."

Gargoyle and Mutate in one... what's that gonna do for a kid? She seemed healthy enough...

"I'm going to need to find a new place anyway. This is just a one bedroom." The baby's cries grew softer, though her little face, which strongly favored the gargoyle side of her ancestry, was still screwed up in distress.

"Hudson's said he wants to do right by the kid..."

Lucy stopped and bit her lip, but then continued walking. "Should probably just move completely."

"You really sure you wanna do that?"

"I don't want to do it at all," said Lucy frankly, her face set and troubled. "But it seems like the best thing. Hudson's going to feel like it's his duty to take care of me and the baby, and I don't want to force him to do something he's not comfortable with."

Elisa frowned. Hudson would probably kill her for telling this to Lucy, but some inner bit of intuition told her that Lucy leaving would be a bad idea for everyone.

"He really does have feelings for you, you know. He just thinks he's too old."
