Other Gargoyles-verse: Hospital: Checking Up

The ability to travel freely and unmolested in the modern world was a new enough concept to be novel to Goliath.  For Elisa, it was nearly heartbreaking.  She'd lost this world.  She held no reservations about the fact that she'd become a Gargoyle.  Though she had lost much, her relationship with Goliath, the Clan, and the lives she'd help save more than made up for it.

All the same, being able to simply walk through a human hospital and get only the occasional odd glance (some of which was no doubt due to their resemblance to the very human Goliath and Elisa Maza of this world), was a miracle indeed.

"Hope ah, Lex is okay..." Elisa said.

Lucy squeezed her eyes shut and nodded, but then blinked and looked down at her daughter as the fretful wails stopped. "Buh?"

"She stopped when I hugged you. Is she cold?"

"...Wouldn't she be shivering?" Lucy looked at the contentedly snuggling infant, who started to fuss again as she backed away from Elisa. "Maybe she wants you?"

She offered the baby.

Elisa took the offered baby, trying to gently soothe her.

The fussing escalated once more to wails, and Lucy shook her head, looking nearly ready to cry herself. "Her diaper's not rubbing her fur the wrong way. It's like mine and doesn't care which way it gets rubbed."

"Hmm... Not her diaper, not cold, not hungry..." She stretched her memory for what she knew about babies. "Did you just like having people close to you? Or being all snug?" she wondered.

"Try wrapping her in your wings?" Lucy absently chewed on one knuckle as she tried to figure out the problem.

Elisa flipped her wings forward to wrap the baby up in them.

Huh. Just realized... you don't even have a name, kiddo.
