Josh's Reality: STAR Labs, Gordon Family Compound: Invitations

Lar--who'd been spending much of his time exploring various portions of the multiverse--arrived outside the complex, having teleported into the universe high in orbit.  He wasn't quite sure how one got a message across multiversal lines, but Josh somehow had.  He'd asked Lar to come celebrate, but not specified what.

Still, he was always happy to come see a friend.  His feet touched down on the ground with barely a sound.

Josh cleared his throat. "Um... so, food or movie first?"

Lar shrugged. "I'm fine with either."

"Let's eat!" Jenny gently kicked her sandaled heels against her husband's chest.

"Aye... if ye've still an appetite." Jaime was blushing again at her blunder.

"I'm fine," he insisted. "Takes more than that to put me off my appetite."

"Ye sure yer nae related tae Joshie?" She quirked a brow, but her eyes were laughing again.

Josh rolled his eyes good-naturedly and headed toward the gate. "Let's go catch the bus."

"Suppose you could call me a step-uncle, if you really want to," Lar laughed.

"They're growing boys!" said Jenny from her high perch.

"Yeah, widthwise." Jamie laughed and hooked her arm through Lar's.

Lar smiled as she linked arms with him and lead the way to follow after Josh and Jenny.

The bus was just leaving the stop as they came up. Josh looked after it, then got a better grip on Jenny's legs and booked after it at a good human pace.

"Och!" Jaime looked after him with dismay, but then grabbed a handful of her skirt and prepared to follow.

Lar followed after, resisting the urge to use his speed to catch up to it or his strength to carry Jamie. It was something he was having trouble with it. Some worlds he could be out in the open with his abilities, others he had to hide them. And here he was even more incognito because of Josh.

Jaime was remarkably fleet for one so small. But she was also unaccustomed to running with shoes on.

Her foot caught on something and she skidded with a cry.

Josh stopped short and spun on his heel, face full of dismay.

Which makes it a good thing that Lar's at least as fast as Josh. Before Jamie's in any danger of hitting the ground, he's caught her. His clothes are smoking ever so slightly from the friction.
