Josh's Reality: STAR Labs, Gordon Family Compound: Invitations

Lar--who'd been spending much of his time exploring various portions of the multiverse--arrived outside the complex, having teleported into the universe high in orbit.  He wasn't quite sure how one got a message across multiversal lines, but Josh somehow had.  He'd asked Lar to come celebrate, but not specified what.

Still, he was always happy to come see a friend.  His feet touched down on the ground with barely a sound.

Jenny doubled over laughing, nearly winding up on the pavement herself.

"Och, ye big baby." Jaime gaily played along, then offered him two hands up.

Lar took the help, for show's sake if nothing else. "Man, being mild mannered is a pain."

For someone so small, Jaime was surprisingly strong. She let go his hands and dusted him off briskly, cheerfully scolding like a little wren all the while.

Josh chuckled. "I don't know. The guys that aren't seem to wind up in more of it."

He just shook his head. "I saw it for years and I still never figured out how he managed to do it so well."

Little doubt who the he in question was, not with this crowd.

"Losing my cool wouldn't really solve anything." Josh shrugged, then laughed as Jenny announced a hug attack and Lar suddenly had both girls glomped onto him.

Lar chuckled, half squirming to get away--a token effort, naturally--half returning the hugs.

"Heh. C'mon, guys, I can smell food." Josh reached out and gently pulled on a lock of Jaime's hair, then laughed and stepped back quickly as she scolded and went after him.

Lar followed after, still chuckling. This was, quite literally, the most fun he'd had in years.

Josh danced backward, grinning and teasing his young 'aunt' till she laughed and went back to Lar.

"Dafty," she told Josh as she took Lar's arm and strove to look the sedate and proper lady.

Lar smiled and lead the way, following Josh.

The restaurant was one of those friendly family affairs, with a comfortable scattering of happily talking and laughing patrons. The Arabic music seemed a little out of place with the setting, but really only added to the charm.

"Hi, Josh, Jenny," said a black-haired young woman, grinning as she grabbed three menus. "What's the occasion?"

"Mom had Isaiah." He grinned back widely as he led the group after her toward a spacious corner table.

"Oh wow! That's great! I'll tell Grandma."

"Is she dancing today?" Josh looked around for the familiar black velvet clad figure.

"Yup. Here you go." She set the menus down in front of Lar and the girls, then hurried to the kitchen to get water.

Lar used his super-ventriloquism to communicate with with Josh. "My name's... not going to be a problem, is it? It's not exactly an Earth name. I did have one I used in Smallville... Bob Cobb."
