Josh's Reality: STAR Labs, Gordon Family Compound: Invitations

Lar--who'd been spending much of his time exploring various portions of the multiverse--arrived outside the complex, having teleported into the universe high in orbit.  He wasn't quite sure how one got a message across multiversal lines, but Josh somehow had.  He'd asked Lar to come celebrate, but not specified what.

Still, he was always happy to come see a friend.  His feet touched down on the ground with barely a sound.

Josh looked at him curiously as Jaime asked, "Do the ladies nae dance where yer from, Lar?"

"They do," he replied. "But nothing quite like that."

"What d'ye think 'o it?" She paused to suck the juice from a lobster leg.

He blushed. "It's really quite... Enticing? Is that the right word? Solar-charged brain and I still get confused about English..."

He nodded. "I do."

Josh ducked his head and shook it with half-embarrassed laughter as Jaime hopped up and went to join Jenny and the grandmother.

Lar chuckled as well. "I don't think I'm ever going to fully understand women."

"I think she wants you to... um... like her." Josh put a hand over his face, still laughing.

And realization hit. "Oh!"

"Yeah." Josh looked at him half apologetically.

"She's very nice," Lar said. "Um... pretty, too."

"I'll ask her to quit," offered Josh, smelling his friend's embarrassment.

"No, don't worry about it. I'm just..."

He frowned. "The first date I have in over two hundred years, and I take a girl to the moon, mostly because I can. I spent way too much time in that Zone. I don't... I'm not sure I really know how to be around people anymore."
