Josh's Reality: STAR Labs, Gordon Family Compound: Invitations

Lar--who'd been spending much of his time exploring various portions of the multiverse--arrived outside the complex, having teleported into the universe high in orbit.  He wasn't quite sure how one got a message across multiversal lines, but Josh somehow had.  He'd asked Lar to come celebrate, but not specified what.

Still, he was always happy to come see a friend.  His feet touched down on the ground with barely a sound.

"Definitely not fish." Josh chuckled and scraped the last bit of goodness from his plate, then set down his fork.

Lar took the last couple of bites of his food as well, then pushed it away with satisfaction. "That was great."

Josh looked around and saw that the girls were done as well. "Ready to go?"

"Yup." Jenny grinned. "I'll have dessert at the movie."

"Hot Tamales," said Jaime, her eyes lighting.

Josh chuckled and got up, then pulled Jenny's chair out for her.

Lar got up as well, doing the same for Jamie.

She dimpled at him and got to her feet, then smoothed her skirt and straightened her hair as she watched Josh and Jenny walk toward the front to pay. "Well, I didnae embarrass meself this time."

Lar smiled. "I don't see how you could have done that."

"Tis nae sae hard," she said a trifle dryly, though her eyes danced with humor. "Jes' usin' the manners 'o me childhood'll do it."

"I'm afraid I don't understand... But I'm also no expert on other cultures."

Ah, the deftness involved in not outright mentioning you're from another planet.

"I wi' aunly say that wipin' yer hands on th' hound was manners. 'N barfin' at the table were jes' a way t' finish the banquet." She looped her arm through his and followed the others.

Lar, wisely, decided not to say anything, but instead just lead the way to follow the others.

Jaime sighed as she stood and watched Josh pay for the meal, her eyes far away and her expression pensive as she absently ran a fingertip over the fabric of Lar's sleeve.

Lar looked over. "Ah... copper for your thoughts?"

"Hmmm?" She tilted her head toward him, then blushed and took her hand away from his arm.
