Josh's Reality: STAR Labs, Gordon Family Compound: Invitations

Lar--who'd been spending much of his time exploring various portions of the multiverse--arrived outside the complex, having teleported into the universe high in orbit.  He wasn't quite sure how one got a message across multiversal lines, but Josh somehow had.  He'd asked Lar to come celebrate, but not specified what.

Still, he was always happy to come see a friend.  His feet touched down on the ground with barely a sound.

"Pretty straight forward. They usually give you an overview of important points in the storyline thus far at the beginning of the movie."

"That sounds fine then."

"Alright." He glanced toward the bathrooms, then turned toward the nearest ticket machine and flashed his wristband at it.

Lar spared a glance that way as well, but chose not to say anything. He really didn't feel capable of judging if the girls had been in there a long time or not.

Josh handed him the small plastic chip that was his ticket, then glanced toward the snack counters. "Think we should get the candy and corn?"

"Sounds like a good idea to me," he replied.

He soon found himself in possession of a very large cup of pop, several packages of different candies, and a small Transformer action figure.

"Hey! We weren't taking that long!" Jenny reached for the plastic pail of popcorn that Josh was carrying.

"No. But I thought we'd just streamline the project and get in line." Josh grinned down at her, then glanced at the subdued looking Jaime, who was studying a poster with absent interest.

Lar, though outwardly silent, directed a little super-ventriloquism toward Jamie. "Are you all right?"

She gave him a wan grin. "Aye."

Then she indicated the poster. "What does this say?"

Lar was taken totally off guard by this, but tried not to let it show. "It says... 'Rush Hour 4: The New Orleans Connection. In Theaters this Christmas.'"

"Ah." She ran her fingertips over the words that she couldn't read. "Looks like a piece Jubes 'n Robbie'd like."

"When I was in Smallville," he said, "Clark took me to a few movie serials. Flash Gordon. Buck Rogers. Things like that. Are those... still being made?"

"No," said Josh. "But you can buy them on disk."

Jaime looked at him, then up at Lar quizzically.

"Ah," he replied. "A shame really. I thought it was amusing, seeing what people thought space was supposed to be like."
