Patchverse: Night trips

Jubee giggled and Arnold explored her shoulder, nose twitching as he moved. Jubee herself had a large cardboard box of parts she'd found in a dump, playing with the tools she'd bought to try making things without her own hardware. The mess sat on newspapers and stretched over a good five-foot square area of her bedroom floor, beyond which the room was its usual pristine self.

So far she'd managed to make a small assortment of action heros, all standing almost a foot high and made out of various gadgets and parts, some with bent metal plating. She beamed and looked at Pikachu, who had his own small wire-made Arnold Jr. sitting on top of his head.

She looked up, sensing it was getting late. She smiled and wondered if Wolvie wanted her to go with him again to the basement bar they'd been visiting the past four nights.

The crowd swirled and pressed around them as the song changed, the beat throbbing so that the whole building seemed to be beating like a giant heart.

She smiled and then closed her eyes, letting the crowd take her where it would, a huge grin plastered across her face.

Patch heard what he knew was the second to last song and got to his feet, chuckling as his head buzzed from the amount of caffeine he'd drunk. Then he stopped and blinked as the song ended and Roy held out his arms to the crowd and bellowed for Jubilee to come up on stage.

"Ah yes, he would greet her with open arms," said Kurt from where he'd come to stand by his alter grandfather.

Jubilee wiggled out of the crwd, then kicked her boot heel, causing a short and small blast of power that sent her spinning over the heads of the crowds and landing in his arms, giggling like a maniac.

"Roy!!" She hugged him feircely.

He hugged her close, rumbling like a diesel engine. "You know the goodbye song, chica?"

"Do I ever! It's almost my favorite of all time!" she laughed. "Can I sing it with you, please?"

"You start." He unhooked his mic and handed it to her.

"Yes!!" she said, jumping up and holding the mic, sticking her tongue out at Patch before she began and pressed into Roy's side. She knew the tune well, and sang surely and perfectly on key.

"Get your butt home and go to bed/tomorrow you're gonna feel kicked in the head! You partied hard and it felt fine, but tomorrow you'll feel like you let off a mine!"

He added his own voice to the second verse, his grin going wide as Neko-Lynn came in on the third. They sang it all together the second time as the crowd screamed themselves hoarse with caffeine and sugar-fuled adoration.

She laughed and snuggled against him as the cong came to a close, then sighed.

"Missed you," she said, hugging Roy as she turned the mic off.
