"This... this is not funny."

With a voice devoid of accent Sal found herself suddenly not at home, returning to her living room after a bathroom break while watching reruns of Avatar: The Last Airbender. If the place had been a nexus or something she was more familiar with she would have been perfectly okay with the entire situation.

Except that this was not a room, not a nexus, and not a cafe. It was a cave. She wasn't a fan of caves. They were gross and earthy and just... well... gross. This cave wasn't drippy or anything, but she still didn't like it. She growled to herself and walked awhile until she found a large French door. Which was weird in and of itself. She wrenched it open and found her feet on green grass.

"Where the hell am I?" She looked around at the enormous valley spread out around her.

This is surreal...

"He shot himself." Fi looked up at her, his eyes showing how the sight had affected him.

"But why?"

The look in Fi's eyes was making Sal very uncomfortable.

"Because they ordered him to kill General Oboa. And he loved her," said the usually jovial clone quietly.

Silence.

Sal really needed to sit down, but before she could find a chair or something she was already on her knees in the grass, trying to get the world to stop spinning.

What did I do to them?

"Easy." Fi was suddenly in medic mode, gently laying her on her side and checking her pulse. "Can you hear me, sir?"

Sal blinked, and sat up immediately. "Yeah, I heard you."

"Careful." He scowled, dark eyes taking in her colour and her expression.

She scowled right back. "Whose brilliant idea was it to charge Ven with that job?"

"It was always the squad leader who was ordered to take out that squad's Jedi." He put an arm behind her back.

Her eyes filled with tears.

Of course she knew that. The black ops and contingencies were Kal's domain but still, she knew all about what her men were being trained to do.

"I think... I think I shouldn't be here," she said after a moment.

He ignored her words and gently scooped her into his arms. "Come, I'll take you to the infirmary."

The sadness was gone, replaced now with concern for her.

"That's not necess - oh, alright," she sighed.

It was probably a good thing that she'd fainted or whatever here and not at home. Kurt would have had kittens.

He carried her carefully back through the empty public room and through the teleportal, only to pause as he stepped into the infirmary and came face to face with Kal.

Sal smirked. "Well, hello there."

Kal - the only man on the face of the planet just as tall as Sal was, she was sure of it - gaped. His eyes traveled from her face to her stomach and back again.

"I'm not going to ask. But you're okay?"

"Thanks. And I think so."
