"This... this is not funny."

With a voice devoid of accent Sal found herself suddenly not at home, returning to her living room after a bathroom break while watching reruns of Avatar: The Last Airbender. If the place had been a nexus or something she was more familiar with she would have been perfectly okay with the entire situation.

Except that this was not a room, not a nexus, and not a cafe. It was a cave. She wasn't a fan of caves. They were gross and earthy and just... well... gross. This cave wasn't drippy or anything, but she still didn't like it. She growled to herself and walked awhile until she found a large French door. Which was weird in and of itself. She wrenched it open and found her feet on green grass.

"Where the hell am I?" She looked around at the enormous valley spread out around her.

This is surreal...

"He's got a little bit of the fire trick too," noted Kurt. "I've seen him make small flames to amuse Wolfen."

"That's his job." Kal frowned at her.

"Yes, but it's Billy and t' refer to him solely by 'is rank is... funny. And yes, I knows, I'm just explainin' where it all come from."

"Wait." Kal blinked. "You know the guy."

She snorted. "'Course I knows the guy. I've known 'im since I was like two."

"I see. That explains the language," said the old soldier calmly, ignoring Kurt's chuckle.

Sal dealt Kal a look. "What's that supposed t' mean?"

She leaned back on the table and grinned.

"The only other place I've ever heard anybody carry on like that guy does was when you were on the training feild. Or when your pet squad was in the barracks." Kal's mouth twitched.

When the words 'pet squad' left Kal's mouth, Sal stopped smiling, and her face became flushed with anger.

"Oh, and I'm sure Omega was a social experiment you helped the Kaminoans facilitate, as opposed to you taking on strays."

Oops, there goes the accent again.

Kal's face was pure 'what the...?' as he stared at her. Then it flushed with anger. "At least none of mine ever shot me."

Sal's scowl was dangerous. "They did what was asked of them. I think witnessing my death is a better destiny than to be culled off, don't you think?"

Her hands were balled into fists. And they were beginning to get very hot.
