Dark Angelverse: On the Hunt

Laka blinked as she and her father suddenly appeared in the busy streets of Washington. Laka blinked, then tugged at her strange, Earth-like clothes. She'd chosen baggy leggings and a short sleeved shirt that almost reached her knees, which were ideal for hiding her blaster and vibroblade. On her wrist she wore a sheild, but it had cloth wrapped over it.

Dressed in jeans and a trenchcoat her father stood by her side, looking out through her visors and frowning. He didn't like it, being alone with Laka in a strange enviornment with only an escape through a nexus portal to rely on. And he didn't even know where to look for the boy who's brother had been mindwiped into forgetting him. He sighed, then looked around. They'd just asked to be sent to Earnest, but he was nowhere in sight.

"Stay on your guard," he muttered to Laka, who nodded once, sharp eyes glancing through the crowds.

All @#$@# broke loose as the gang crashed inwards, and Laka roared out her challenge, springing forward, the virbroblade whirling faster than the eye could see. Canderous also shouted, shooting his blasters off.

Earnest whirled in and out of the melee, leaving pain and suffering behind him as he parried and feinted, using his body as a living weapon.

Laka managed to clash with the biggest of the lot, snarling as she struck him again and again.

And then sirens sounded and the toughs all turned tail and fled.

"Sector Police! Book it!" shouted Earnest, grabbing the little girl and his jacket and doing so.

Laka wasn't giving up, but Canderous seized the back of her shirt and wrenched her off, turning and following Earnest as quickly as he could.

Earnest looked over his shoulder, hovering by the hidden door as he waited for them, his other arm wrapped firmly around the little girl's waist as she clung to him with arms and legs. He didn't know who the old guy was, but he'd know Laka anywhere and wondered why and how she was in his reality.

Canderous ducked into the doorway, letting Laka down as he caught his breath.

"Put that away," he said, pushing her vibro blade down. She snorted, but did so, then looked up for Earnest, ignoring the dribble of blood a lucky hit had scored from the corner of her mouth.

Earnest looked all around and up, then glanced at the tiny warning light in one corner of the doorway and swiftly wrenched open the narrow hidden door in the side of it. "In, quick!" He set the child down and booted her gently through, hearing her scrambling down the steep stairs inside.

Laka and Canderous followed him, Laka appearing at his side and touching his forehead. He still seemed crazy.
