Dark Angelverse: On the Hunt

Laka blinked as she and her father suddenly appeared in the busy streets of Washington. Laka blinked, then tugged at her strange, Earth-like clothes. She'd chosen baggy leggings and a short sleeved shirt that almost reached her knees, which were ideal for hiding her blaster and vibroblade. On her wrist she wore a sheild, but it had cloth wrapped over it.

Dressed in jeans and a trenchcoat her father stood by her side, looking out through her visors and frowning. He didn't like it, being alone with Laka in a strange enviornment with only an escape through a nexus portal to rely on. And he didn't even know where to look for the boy who's brother had been mindwiped into forgetting him. He sighed, then looked around. They'd just asked to be sent to Earnest, but he was nowhere in sight.

"Stay on your guard," he muttered to Laka, who nodded once, sharp eyes glancing through the crowds.

It lead to a drippy concrete room lit by a bare bulb that hung from the ceiling. The little girl walked over and wearily flopped down on an old milk crate, hugging Earnest's jacket close.

Moments passed, then Earnest came zipping into the room, grabbed Laka, and went for a kiss.

He got a slap upside the head first, but then Laka grinned and gave him the desired kiss.

Canderous arched an eyebrow, then looked around.

"Where are we? What's going on?" he said, military oozing from every word.

Earnest lifted a finger in a 'just wait' gesture, then hugged Laka and forgot about Canderous.

The eleven year old looked at them, then looked away, then looked back and wrinkled her nose. "EWWWW!"

Earnest ducked and lifted his head to look at her. "What?"

Laka smirked, then stomped Canderous' foot as he opened his mouth to speak. The large man didn't flinch, but fell silent.

Earnest sniggered at the foot stomp, but then looked at the older man. "So, who are you?"

"Canderous Ordo. Laka is my daughter. And you're Earnest, that Fron kid's twin," he growled. Laka went over and kissed him on the cheek, then elbowed him in the gut as she went back to her father's side.

"Who's Fron... OOF!" He held his abused stomach and looked hurt.

Laka snickered at Earnest, then looked over at her father as he cleared his throat. "Frank. Whatever. The point is we were supposed to come here n' help you out. Your brother touched somethin' in the Nexus that made his head go whack. He thinks his name is Fron and that he's a Jedi or something. Point is till he straightened out he's there, we're here," Canderous shrugged.

"Thinks he's a jedi...." Earnest didn't know whether to laugh or cry. "How long till he comes back?"

"Dunno. But we're here till he does. Alora said to say somthing about Nexus LOLs being the cause," he shrugged. Laka sighed and went over, rubbing his stomach gently and then laying her head on his shoulder.

"So...." His mad green eyes locked onto Canderous' as his arms tightened around Laka. "So, he might... might not... come back?"

"They'll fix him, kid. Trust me, Carth's no more pleased about this than you are. And if something can be done, short of murder it can be undone. Trust me," he said. Laka nuzzled under his chin and sighed.
