Gargoyles' 'verse: The Castle: Shopping Trip (Probably Lacking in Doom)

Guinevere materialized in the courtyard of the castle with a nervous look, afraid for a moment that it hadn't actually worked.  After all, the one courtyard looked pretty much like the other.

Though, truth be told, she'd be nervous anyway.  The very idea of simply going out into public--shopping, Franklin had called it--was beyond strange to her.  She was from a time when her kind were tolerated at best, not unlike some kind of mangy watchdog that the humans kept.  Useful, but not at all important.  And times were not much better several centuries in the future.  Could it all have changed so much here?

And there was the scarier notion that somewhere out there in this universe, there might still exist a Demona.  The one from the universe she now called home was removed from things, forever sealed in sleeping stone.  But here...  could she face herself, if it came down to it?  She did not know.

And then there were her emerging feelings for Franklin...

"It is a far sight bigger than the Wyvern area of Scotland."

"I've never seen that." His gentle rumble was slightly sad as he lead her toward the battlements.

"It was our home long before the humans came, before I was even hatched. It was beautiful."

He paused to look thoughtfully down-down at the city that never slept, his craggy face drawn with wistfulness and childlike curiosity as he thought of that place so long agone. "Hudson talks about it sometimes."

She nodded. "It is only a memory now... but one that is kept very much alive."

"Dunno why," he mused, "But it seems funny... Father saw it, and even Lex did. But I'm here."

"People often hold on to strange things... But let it not trouble us tonight. Tonight is for fun."

He blinked, but then grinned at her again and suddenly toppled forward off the wall.

Briefly surprised, she spread her wings on instinct, catching the air easily.

"I see I shall have to keep my eye on you."
