Midnight has passed, and a light snow is fluffing down on the castle battlements and piling up in soft drifts in the corners of the courtyard. Voices come distantly from within the castle. All is still otherwise.

And then a figure materializes on the wall. A giant of a man with scaly skin and a horned brow, he turns his head as though listening, his long tail sweeping away the snow.

Then he crouches and waits to be noticed.

She blinked, then frowned and looked up at him.

-Is... is this alright?- she sent, a little worried.

-Yes.- He gently wraps the arm around her between her waist and her shoulder. -I... didn't know what to do with my arm.-

His sheepishness is clear as he says it.

She blinked, then smiled. -This is very nice.-

-Yes.- He finishes his tea and sets the empty cup next to her full one and smiles down at her once more, then inhales deeply as he catches a hint of flower scent. -Is that you?-

"The smell? Yes," she blushed. "I found some men attempting to rob a flower shop, and one of them knocked me into a display."

-It's nice. Almost as nice as Mrs. White's sweetpeas.-

She blushed, though was a little confused by the statement. Did he wish she smelled better? And what were sweetpeas?

-No.- He tries to think of how to explain, then offers to share with her the memory of how the climbing flowers smell on a summer day.

"Oh," she said aloud, blinking.

-My friend Atin gives them to his wife Vanya, and when their window's open I can smell the flower scent coming from it as I sit on the roof and watch things.-

"That sounds beautiful," she said softly, trying to remember the smell and name.

-He brings her flowers every day when they're growing. The air from their window always smells like a garden.-

"He must love her very much," Chiyoko murmured, lost in thought.
