World Outside Time: Four days later: Wedding

Firecracker watched as Sir James and Anmut exchanged rings, her fingers twitching with the urge to pet the hunter green velvet tunic that Sir James wore with black pants and a brown cloak with red satin lining. Next to him, Anmut wore a long strip of white satin wrapped around her body to make something that wasn't quite a dress but looked something like one with sideslits.

The funny coat and collar bowed, then clapped invisable hands together and turned to a page in the big Book which Sir James and Anmut wrote in. Firecracker's mama wrote in it next, and then everyone turned to her.

"Yer turn, lass," rumbled Sir James, smiling.

Firecracker blinked in alarm. "But I can't write."

"That... that caan't be him," she said numbly, staring at the glass in shock. "No, I saw him- he was with that weird colorful chika with Elizabeth, sleeping on her. He didn't care then...."

The scene in the mirror shifted then, to a drunken Chase weeping on House's shoulder and saying that he had killed her and then slightly later saying that he'd kidnapped Beth.

"No," she said weakly, staring, then reaching out as she felt her heart break and big, fat tears started rolling down her cheeks. "No... no no, no! That's not what's supposed to happen...."

The picture split, one side showing Chase sitting in a booth, the other showing a large black man with very familiar blue eyes. The big man seemed on the verge of tears as he broke the news of Jubilee's accident to Chase, and she clearly saw and heard the result of that news. Then it showed the big man called Dog learning the news, and his reaction when he later heard again from her Logan of her presumed death.

"Please, please stop it," she moaned, hiding her face in his chest, unable to look or hear anymore as she started crying, really, sobbing.

Jubilee, you idiot... you left them, you're so stupid. You left them all to go try and kill yourself. What've you done?

"Y'see, Joy. Yer work's nae done. They need ye yet," rumbled Sir James softly.

She only sobbed harder, her arms going around his neck as she clung to him, then released all of her hurt and fear in a single, breathless gasp and whimper before she faltered, and lay against him, shivering as she gasped for air and slowly, slowly started pulling herself together.
