World Outside Time: Four days later: Wedding

Firecracker watched as Sir James and Anmut exchanged rings, her fingers twitching with the urge to pet the hunter green velvet tunic that Sir James wore with black pants and a brown cloak with red satin lining. Next to him, Anmut wore a long strip of white satin wrapped around her body to make something that wasn't quite a dress but looked something like one with sideslits.

The funny coat and collar bowed, then clapped invisable hands together and turned to a page in the big Book which Sir James and Anmut wrote in. Firecracker's mama wrote in it next, and then everyone turned to her.

"Yer turn, lass," rumbled Sir James, smiling.

Firecracker blinked in alarm. "But I can't write."

- I don't know. I don't think I wanna leave here... but they say I have to. I don't want to go home... but if I saw Chase....-

-It's time,- he rumbled softly. -I'm the only person who can access the World Outside Time, and only, it seems, when it's time for someone to leave.- She felt a ghostly touch on her shoulder. -I know it's hard.-

"But... no, I can't, this is Wolvie's wedding night!" she gasped aloud, face draining again. "No! I won't!"

-I didn't say you had to come right away, Grandma. But I can feel that you're to be back at the Cafe fairly soon.-

"Kid?" Logan frowned and leaned over.

-How...how long?- her shoulders sagged.

-Tommorrow morning, at the latest.-

"Lass?" Sir James added his concern as Anmut gently squeezed Jubilee's shoulder with one wing hand.
