World Outside Time: Four days later: Wedding

Firecracker watched as Sir James and Anmut exchanged rings, her fingers twitching with the urge to pet the hunter green velvet tunic that Sir James wore with black pants and a brown cloak with red satin lining. Next to him, Anmut wore a long strip of white satin wrapped around her body to make something that wasn't quite a dress but looked something like one with sideslits.

The funny coat and collar bowed, then clapped invisable hands together and turned to a page in the big Book which Sir James and Anmut wrote in. Firecracker's mama wrote in it next, and then everyone turned to her.

"Yer turn, lass," rumbled Sir James, smiling.

Firecracker blinked in alarm. "But I can't write."

Logan only grunted, and Jubee giggled, then hopped up on the table and pulled her daughter and Anmut up beside her.

"Hey, you two should put your money where your mouth is and have a drinking contest," she giggled, sipping from her own mug.

She giggled and pulled the other girls close, and Logan chuckled.

"Sounds good ta me too, bub," he chuckled, down his first ale easily.

Logan sighed from where he leaned against the table, looking at the man by him, who'd removed his tunic and now sat with his sleeves untied and rolled up. "Are you ready t' give in yet, bub?"

"Silly," Jubilee giggled from where she lay next to Anmut and Firecracker, giggling wearily and hugging the remains of her fourth ale, all she got to. "You're all silly."

"No quitters!" Jubee said happily. Logan chuckled and refilled his own.

"I'll drink yeh under the table any day, old man," he shot right back.
