Logan ducked, then winced and looked up, eyes wide.

"What the-?" he winced, then tried to push the mech's hands away, wanting to go over and see what it was. "Hey, are you alright?"

Ratchet's optics widen as the blond man starts to... shine, and seems to transform into something that looks even less human. The light... he's seen it before, he's certain, and it calms his misgivings.

-He could have said he was with You,- he grumbles mentally to God.

Spike kept concentrating, frowning. This was harder than people made it seem.

Finally the man was looking whole and healthy again, and Spike was feeling utterly and completely drained.

"Nugh. Right. Is that enough, Charlie?" he grumbled, hands falling to his side as the light died. "Can I go home now, please? Ang'll be lookin' for me."

-Can't you find your own way back?- comes the impatient mental voice as Ratchet blinks and stares at his patient.

-Well maybe if somebody outlined what I could do in the first place I wouldn't be stuck,- Spike's reply was just as impatient.

Ratchet blinks again as the white-haired man vanishes, then steps back and looks down at Mara and Logan.

And Mac mutters about needing coffee.

"Is he ok?" Mara asked, voice cracking with worry. Logan looked like he hadn't changed at all.

"His vital signs are stable." Ratchet hunkers down to look more closely at Logan. "But he's in a coma. Is there any way to let... Logan know that he can let go?"

"I don't think so," she said softly. "Logan, baby? Can you hear me?"

Logan's eyelids fluttered, and Mara gasped. "Logan!"

"Nugh..." Logan stirred weakly. "Ma?"

"Yeah, it's me. Let go, honey, Jubal's safe. You can let go," she begged.

"Safe..." he mumbled, then seemed to pass out again.

"Did he do it?" asks Mac, looking at the boy with a frown.

"I don't know," Mara almost started to cry again. "I just- there's no way to tell!"

Mac rubs her back. "You need some rest."

"His vital signs and brainwaves are steady," notes Ratchet as he scans Logan.

Mara blinked, then bowed her head. "He needs to stay close," she said softly, then blinked. "I need to go... my children- I need to make sure that Jay-Jay can take care of them. Can go and come back to take care of Logan?"

"I have no objections," says Ratchet. "Are you able to do so?"

"I... I think so," she said, slowly getting out and laying him down on the pillow, fussing over him as only a mother could before kissing his forehead. "I'll be right back for him. Please, don't move him away from Jubal."

With that she gave him one last kiss, then turned and hurried out as if panicked, disappearing as she eft through the doorway.
