Gargoyles 'verse: Maza Apartment: Gwen Visits Franklin

With a gentle whoosh, Guinevere landed gently on the terrace outside the Maza apartment in the other Gargoyle universe.  She seemed to be finding herself here more and more of late, spending time with Franklin.  It wasn't that she was unhappy in the other universe, far from it.  She had her friends, Jubilee especially, but here..  free from the struggles of the other universe, free from the hatred...  it was easier. 

And as accepted as she had become, she could not help but still feel a little less than at ease, even in the best of times.  It was awkward around Angela, and sometimes still painful to watch Goliath. 

Here, she had none of that.

She wrapped gently to see if anyone was home.

"Thank-you," She says, grabbing one.

The police station is busy as Franklin leads Gwen down the stairs from the roof, with people hurrying hither and yon, others shouting, nearly everyone seemingly talking at once....

Franklin walks through the confusion confidently, grinning as people call out to him and returning waves and comments. It's plain that he's already a part of this place. Many curious eyes follow the girl at his side, but they are friendly looks and smiles.

Gwen just shakes her head in amazement. "So different from the other world. It amazes me every time."

He looks down at her, sobering. "Yeah, but it's changing too."

Then he makes a funny sound and ducks as someone bounces a paper ball off his head. "Hey!"

"You just missed your old man, kid," calls back a rotund and cheerful cop. "He got called out on a ___."

"That shouldn't be too hard." Franklin grins, then scoops up the paper ball with one wing and returns it to sender, who nearly falls over because he'd been tipping his chair.

Gwen gives Franklin a curious look. "What shouldn't be too hard?"

"The call Father answered." He looks down at her, laughing at the success of his paper toss and putting up a wing to deflect the return throw.

Gwen nods. "Right," she says.

Suddenly, her hand darts out and catches the thrown scrap of paper.

Laughter breaks out around them, along with a few quiet cheers and urgings to her to 'Nail Rutherford, go on, bean him!'
