Gargoyles 'verse: Maza Apartment: Gwen Visits Franklin

With a gentle whoosh, Guinevere landed gently on the terrace outside the Maza apartment in the other Gargoyle universe.  She seemed to be finding herself here more and more of late, spending time with Franklin.  It wasn't that she was unhappy in the other universe, far from it.  She had her friends, Jubilee especially, but here..  free from the struggles of the other universe, free from the hatred...  it was easier. 

And as accepted as she had become, she could not help but still feel a little less than at ease, even in the best of times.  It was awkward around Angela, and sometimes still painful to watch Goliath. 

Here, she had none of that.

She wrapped gently to see if anyone was home.

There is, and Franklin hops up from the table, setting down his half eaten wrap as he comes to open the French door and let her in.

Gwen smiles when she sees him and wraps her arms and wings around him in a hug. "Hello, my love."

He lowers his head and gently rubs his forehead against hers. "How are you?"

She smiles. "I am well. Mostly well, at any rate."

"You do." Franklin carefully pushes her chair in for her, then scoops his baby brother out of the little seat and resumes his own chair as the baby crows and and grins. "He says he likes you."

Gwen smiles. "He is adorable."

Elisa's grinning as only a proud mother can, and Stevie makes a little sound and arches his back slightly, his dark eyes quizzical.

"He wants to know if you'll take him." Franklin looks at Guinevere, a smiling question in his own eyes. "It's not hard to hold him."

Gwen blinks in surprise. "I... Oh my. I haven't... I suppose I could..."

"It wasn't hard." Franklin watches his brother. "I knew it all."

"Wonderful," she replies. "I had every faith in you."

Franklin starts to reply, but then starts and rumbles a chuckle as Stevie abruptly raspberries and sprays food. "Whoops."

He reaches for the facecloth that Elisa hands him.

Gwen looks between Franklin, Steve, and the mess, and then bursts out laughing.

"Mmmhmm," he says sheepishly, laying his cheek against her hair and rocking she and Stevie slightly. "But... I'm happy."

"Good," she says.

Stevie looks up at them, then gives a little 'ppththtt' for attention.

"Oh?" Gwen says as she looks down at him. "Are you sure?"

"Yes," rumbles Franklin, then takes another bite of wrap before poking the rest toward Gwen's mouth. "Do you want to come with me?"

Gwen takes another bite. "I think I could do that."

"Right on." He grins and reaches for another wrap.

The portly cop laughs and bats it aside, but then shouts and turns to point at a female coworker who'd taken the opportunity of his distraction to shoot him with an elastic propelled paper clip.

"Come on, guys." Franklin's laugh rumbles out. "The Chief's going to start yelling."

Gwen chuckles. "Is it always so... lively, here?"

He puts a wing around her shoulders and looks around. "It's quiet yet. Wait till they start bringing people in."

He looks around again. "We don't even count this as exciting. Exciting is when somebody brings a gun in and tries to use it the wrong way."

She shrugs. "Perhaps, in time, I shall come to see this as ordinary. But until then, I shall enjoy finding out."

He gives her his frank grin, then resumes their path through the room, pausing now to look into offices and greet people too. Some of these want introductions, so he gives them.
