Gargoyles 'verse: Maza Apartment: Gwen Visits Franklin

With a gentle whoosh, Guinevere landed gently on the terrace outside the Maza apartment in the other Gargoyle universe.  She seemed to be finding herself here more and more of late, spending time with Franklin.  It wasn't that she was unhappy in the other universe, far from it.  She had her friends, Jubilee especially, but here..  free from the struggles of the other universe, free from the hatred...  it was easier. 

And as accepted as she had become, she could not help but still feel a little less than at ease, even in the best of times.  It was awkward around Angela, and sometimes still painful to watch Goliath. 

Here, she had none of that.

She wrapped gently to see if anyone was home.

The portly cop laughs and bats it aside, but then shouts and turns to point at a female coworker who'd taken the opportunity of his distraction to shoot him with an elastic propelled paper clip.

"Come on, guys." Franklin's laugh rumbles out. "The Chief's going to start yelling."

Gwen chuckles. "Is it always so... lively, here?"

He puts a wing around her shoulders and looks around. "It's quiet yet. Wait till they start bringing people in."

She considers this, then nods. "I can only imagine."

He looks down at her then, his eyes smiling. The smile doesn't fade when a collective 'awww' sweeps the area around them, though she'll be able to tell he's blushing again.

Gwen smiles in return. Maybe, just maybe, she's finally figured out where she belongs.

"Hey, am I invited to the wedding?" Ruthorford sits up. "Will it be anything like your parnts'?"

"Lay off." Franklin shakes his head at him, then turns to continue leading Gwen through the room.

And for the moment, Gwen is quite happy to let herself be led.

He introduces her as he goes, putting names on faces of cops and detectives, and even some of the street people and hookers who are sitting in various chairs in waiting areas or in front of desks.

"Quite the remarkable city," Gwen remarks. "So many different people."

Franklin blinks and looks around with the eyes of one for whom the surroundings have always been this way and who, though knowing there are different sorts of places, tends to use this one to base his notions of normalcy on. "Compared to Scotland?"

"Indeed," she agrees. "It was a place of... sameness, for the most part."

He looks thoughtful. "This is pretty same-old, too. The same things happening; the same people coming through."

"Perhaps," Gwen reflects. "But there is still so much going on. Long weeks could go by without any excitement, around Castle Wyvern."
