She stood there, invisable in the broad light of day, and watched Sam, her turquoise eyes intent and a little sad. Behind her on the ground lay the remains of the thing that had tried sneaking up on him unawares, but she had no interest in her kill. Things like that weren't food. You only killed them to keep the world from stinking and to protect your own.

Sam was just standing there. His thoughts were closed, so she couldn't talk to him, but she was content to just watch over him for now.

He looks at him, but nods. "Alright."

-Gopher,- notes Zanoah absently as her belly rumbles slightly. -We should eat.-

"Yeah, we should do that. We'll do that then head to the house."

-Where?- She gives him a random slurp to the cheek, then turns her head. -Another gopher.-

"Do what?" asks John patiently.

"Zanoah was saying that we should eat and I said we'd do that first." He thinks about that. "There's a cafe not too far from here."

"Casey's?" he asks, remembering the cafe that he'd used to go to sometimes in his reality.

"Um, yeah. I think that's the name of it. I wouldn't really know."

[random_xtras]

"Good. I need some of that coffee right now." He looks at himself in the rearview mirror and decides to risk it. He's walked into places and gone unnoticed before.

"Alright, its settled then." He manages to get them to the cafe in one piece and walks inside. Holy crap... right.
