She'd gone looking for the people Vic had described and had ended up here in...
...well, the middle of nowhere was what it looked like. It was a wooded area, near a lake, with what looked like an abandoned log cabin on a rocky outcropping near the water.
"Great," Vanya muttered to herself, walking toward the building. "Just great."

John looked at Sam and Zanoah, one brow lifting slightly as he watched the wolf-fae demolish her first softserve icecream cone. He saw Sam's distracted look and reached over to gently touch him on the shoulder. "Son?"

She stood there, invisable in the broad light of day, and watched Sam, her turquoise eyes intent and a little sad. Behind her on the ground lay the remains of the thing that had tried sneaking up on him unawares, but she had no interest in her kill. Things like that weren't food. You only killed them to keep the world from stinking and to protect your own.
Sam was just standing there. His thoughts were closed, so she couldn't talk to him, but she was content to just watch over him for now.
