She stood there, invisable in the broad light of day, and watched Sam, her turquoise eyes intent and a little sad. Behind her on the ground lay the remains of the thing that had tried sneaking up on him unawares, but she had no interest in her kill. Things like that weren't food. You only killed them to keep the world from stinking and to protect your own.

Sam was just standing there. His thoughts were closed, so she couldn't talk to him, but she was content to just watch over him for now.

She nods and writes, then looks up. "How do you want your eggs?"

"Fried," says John, turning his head to watch dirt fountain up across the way where Zanoah was digging.

"Over easy." Sam states having never liked fried eggs for some reason.

"And white toast for both of us," says John automatically, having learned his daughter's aversion to brown bread over the past few days.

The waitress nods, then pauses to look at Sam and say somthing.

"Could we get a pot of coffee?" John interrupts quickly.

"Sure." She's distracted, writing that down before walking toward the kitchen.

"Dean's flirted with her before." Sam states once the waitress is gone.

John nods. "From the look in her eye I thought she was going to ask about him."

"She doesn't know..." Sam states quietly. "Doubt any of the girls he's flirted with do."
