Alora ducked the swing of a wicked looking halberd, then swept off the droid arm that held it before swirling and deflecting a blaster bolt.

-Well, this has got to be one of more honest receptions we've gotten,- she mused, watching as another bolt went through the edge of her swirling robe. -They didn't even pretend to be glad to see us. Master! Protect her! ...Thank You.-

She clenched her teeth as Tiji turned just in time to meet the droid that had intended to attack her from behind, then whirled with a slight creak of armor to meet her own next opponent.

"Oh. Right," he turned, arm still around her. "Let's go."

"You ok, mom?" Tiji said softly.

"I will be." She sighed and resolutely set one foot in front of the other, saber held in one hand ready to meet any danger.


Couple hours later

Alora sighed as she watched the last of the local ships that had answered the call to help the hostages to safety take off and fly away, then looked down at the detonator in her hand as the twelve year old boy argued softly but fiercely with someone behind her. -So determined to stay with me, and he doesn't even know about his father yet, Master.-

Then she squared her shoulders. "All clear?"

"Just push it and blow the ^%*$%@#% place up," Tiji groaned softly.

Alora looked at her, dark eyes thoughtful, then offered the detonator.

Tiji blinked, then hit it quickly, wincing as the explosions crashed against her headache.

"There. May we go now, master?" she asked, looking up at her mother wearily.

Alora nodded, then sighed with relief as she realized that she could relax. The next moment she'd folded to the deck.

Tob turned his head, blue eyes wide with dismay as he clutched his sleeping little brother.

Tiji winced and caught her, then picked her up.

"Come on. Let's find you two a bed," she said to the young boy, turning and takinbg her mother to the ship's east barracks, which had been designated the crew's quarters while the refugees filled the other, the cargo hold, and many of the hallways.
