Futureknight verse: Wayne Manor: Different Bat-Time, Different Bat-Channel Part II

Helena was beginning to get depressed.  She'd tried--several times--to get home, all without success.  She was already missing her teammates--not to mention hoping to God that they weren't going out of their mind with worry about her.  And frankly, this Gotham was too different, too strange, too far ahead of her own for her to ever be comfortable here.

"I just want to go home," she muttered.  "Or to do something useful... Why the heck am I even here?"

"Actually, Thomas here is my own faithful retainer." The butler hunkered down calmly, her green eyes smiling as she watched the greyhounds.

Thomas, for his part, came over to see if he couldn't get some love too.

"Perhaps a partner instead? There are several varieties of intelligent felines about." Prudence picked up her hand and examined it, then calmly set it on her head.

Ace and Deuce, meanwhile, were both licking Thomas, who was rumbling and headbutting them and doing a bit of facewashing of his own.

"Well, technically, in the long run that's me. Goes through a dummy corporation or two, but I actually own the building my aparment's in. But I don't think my world's quite ready for an intelligent feline."

Prudence inclined her head to show that she conceded the point, then turned and looked at Thomas. He looked back alertly, then pulled away from the dogs with a couple well-placed swats and bounded away.
