Other Gargoyles-verse: Hospital: Checking Up

The ability to travel freely and unmolested in the modern world was a new enough concept to be novel to Goliath.  For Elisa, it was nearly heartbreaking.  She'd lost this world.  She held no reservations about the fact that she'd become a Gargoyle.  Though she had lost much, her relationship with Goliath, the Clan, and the lives she'd help save more than made up for it.

All the same, being able to simply walk through a human hospital and get only the occasional odd glance (some of which was no doubt due to their resemblance to the very human Goliath and Elisa Maza of this world), was a miracle indeed.

"Hope ah, Lex is okay..." Elisa said.

"He's nae outta the woods yet." The old gargoyle sighed, then nodded to Delilah as she said something about getting something to eat and coming back and walked out.

"Getting stronger every day," said Emily, watching Lex sleep and praying mentally.

Elisa cast her own glance over them and leaned slightly against Goliath.

"He will recover in full," Goliath said. "I am certain of it."

Hudson was going to say something, but stopped short with a look of utter surprise on his face as Peter broke wind, the sound amplified by his diaper. "Och!"

Emily nearly fell down laughing.

Hudson gave her a reproving look and shook his head, then turned back to Goliath and Elisa. "Aye, 'o course."

"It was." Goliath stepped inside and looked around, his mouth twitching at the corners. "Hudson and Lex have never achieved that volume."

Hudson facepalmed.

"Hey!" Emily stared. "I think Goliath just made a funny."

Elisa blinked in surprise and then pointed at her Goliath. "You. Take notes. Learn to be more funny."

Goliath's face remained impassive. "If that is your wish..."

Goliath chuckled at that. "Well... I still suppose it could not hurt to try."

"We continue to have our troubles," Goliath replied, "but our blessings as well."

Elisa smiled and nodded. "In a, ah, pretty round about way, we're going to be parents ourselves pretty quick."
