Josh's Reality: STAR Labs, Gordon Family Compound: Invitations

Lar--who'd been spending much of his time exploring various portions of the multiverse--arrived outside the complex, having teleported into the universe high in orbit.  He wasn't quite sure how one got a message across multiversal lines, but Josh somehow had.  He'd asked Lar to come celebrate, but not specified what.

Still, he was always happy to come see a friend.  His feet touched down on the ground with barely a sound.

She nodded, but then winced as the angry man spoke sullenly.

"I ain't sayin' sorry."

"That's your concern," said Josh evenly, ducking his head to look out a window.

"Here's our stop," rumbled Josh, then thanked the elderly lady when she pulled the cord. He put an arm around Jenny's shoulders and got ready to get off.

Jaime sniffed hastily and turned her head a bit so that she could wipe her eyes with her hand. She didn't let go of Lar, though, and was still wanting invisibility.

Lar was ready to get off as well, which may or may not have included some gentle, but caring prodding of Jamie, if need be.

It was needed, and she walked along in downcast, shamed submissiveness, only nodding to Jenny's attempt at conversation about what junk food they should buy to eat.

Josh gave her an understanding look, then glanced at Lar. "Have you had popcorn?"

"A little like sawdust," said Josh thoughtfully, then winced and chuckled as Jenny swatted him and disagreed vehemently.

"It's good," she said, turning to look up at Lar as they passed into the building. "Crisp corn with flavor on it."

"Really?" Josh's smile was wistful as he glanced at his friend.

Jaime finally let go of Lar's shirt and wiped her eyes, then looked around. "D'ye see the lady's room?"

"This way." Jenny grabbed her hand and hauled her away.

"She doesn't like thinking that she offended someone, and she doesn't handle being yelled at very well." Josh looked around at the movie posters. "Thanks for helping her."
