Gargoyles 'Verse: Castle Wyvern: We are Family

The notion of slipping from one universe to the next when they felt like it was an alluring one, and the members of the Manhattan Clan of the universe where Elisa Maza had become a Gargoyle and where Brooklyn had danced the corridors of time and returned with a new family intended to enjoy it when possible.  So when an invitation had been extended, some of them had jumped at the chance.  With the mess going on with Angela right now, it was good to get the kids out of the house.

"Now," Brooklyn said as he, Katana, Nashville, and Tachi appeared in the courtyard, "you kids are gonna be on your best behavior, right?"

"Uh-huh," Tachi said.

"Yes, Dad," Nash added, rolling his eyes.

"And if the other me is there, what did I say to do?"

"Not listen to a word he says," Tachi giggled.

"Right."

They too got grumbled at, but nobody was brave enough to try a shove. Hudson shook his head, then led the way to the lineup for their movie, his hand going into his pocket. "Would ye like to git the younglings some treats?"

"Can we get some popcorn, Dad? Please?" Nash begged.

"An' chocolate?" Tachi added.

Brooklyn considered, and exchanged a quick glance with his wife. At her subtle nod, he said, "Yeah, sounds good."

Hudson pulled out a credit card and offered it between the two adults, brow ridges quirking quizzically.

Brooklyn took the card. "Thanks, Hudson," he said, heading off to the snack counter.

Hudson turned back to Nash and Tachi and gave them a gentle lecture on where food wrappers and popcorn belonged and where it didn't and the appropriate kind of voice to use in a theater (none). Then he started as he realized that Lucy was standing beside him and absently put a wing around her.

"The short answer is 'teleportation'." She grinned at the boy and reached up to take Jane's hat off and unzip her a little.

"How come we can't do anything cool like that?" Nash whined.

"You have more than sufficient skills and abilities to keep you happy," Katana said. "Be thankful for that which you do have, and not envious of that which you do not possess."
