Gargoyles 'Verse: Castle Wyvern: We are Family

The notion of slipping from one universe to the next when they felt like it was an alluring one, and the members of the Manhattan Clan of the universe where Elisa Maza had become a Gargoyle and where Brooklyn had danced the corridors of time and returned with a new family intended to enjoy it when possible.  So when an invitation had been extended, some of them had jumped at the chance.  With the mess going on with Angela right now, it was good to get the kids out of the house.

"Now," Brooklyn said as he, Katana, Nashville, and Tachi appeared in the courtyard, "you kids are gonna be on your best behavior, right?"

"Uh-huh," Tachi said.

"Yes, Dad," Nash added, rolling his eyes.

"And if the other me is there, what did I say to do?"

"Not listen to a word he says," Tachi giggled.

"Right."

"He doesn't need to be making rude personal comments." The woman scowled at her son, who gave her a look of sullen chagrin in return.

"He made the comment to me, and I wasn't offended," said Lucy quietly. "You can't learn without asking questions."

Then she turned to the boy. "No, I don't. That gene jumped over me. But my daughter has them, see?"

The boy's face lightened with wonder, and even his mother blinked as she just then noticed the bundle strapped to Hudson's chest. "Awww."

"See, Nash?" Brooklyn chuckled. "He likes babies."

Nash did his trademark eyeroll. "Yeah, yeah, yeah."

The two humans had to hand over their tickets then, so further conversation was cut off. Hudson handed over the tickets for himself and Lucy, assuring the young ticket taker that Jane would cause no problems for other viewers.

And Brooklyn handed over the tickets for his own family.

It was a big theater, with a sloping floor design. Hudson paused and stepped to one side as they went through the door. "D'ye wanna sit at the back, here? Or would ye rather be closer?"

"Wouldn't mind being closer... Only ever seen movies from up above the projection booth."

"Aye, right." He led the way forward. "There's a trick tae foldin' yer wings so they fit 'n dinnae block the view 'o those behind ye...."

The Brooklyn family followed after. "Gotcha," he said.

Hudson let them into the row ahead of him, taking the aisle seat for himself both to protect the others and to give him a quick getaway if Jane should break her usual pattern and wake during the show. Interested murmurs came from the crowd at the sight of them, but no one really caused a stir.

Brooklyn settled into his seat, and Kat into another, with the kids between them.

"Too weird," he muttered.

"Hmm?" Lucy's eyes seemed to glow in the dark as she turned to look at him over Tachi's head.

He shook his head. "Nothing. This is just... this whole world's weird to me."

"...Good weird?" Her ears perked toward him.

"Good weird. I'm not saying you guys don't have problems, same as us, but... you guys don't have to deal with the big one."
