Gargoyles 'Verse: Castle Wyvern: We are Family

The notion of slipping from one universe to the next when they felt like it was an alluring one, and the members of the Manhattan Clan of the universe where Elisa Maza had become a Gargoyle and where Brooklyn had danced the corridors of time and returned with a new family intended to enjoy it when possible.  So when an invitation had been extended, some of them had jumped at the chance.  With the mess going on with Angela right now, it was good to get the kids out of the house.

"Now," Brooklyn said as he, Katana, Nashville, and Tachi appeared in the courtyard, "you kids are gonna be on your best behavior, right?"

"Uh-huh," Tachi said.

"Yes, Dad," Nash added, rolling his eyes.

"And if the other me is there, what did I say to do?"

"Not listen to a word he says," Tachi giggled.

"Right."

Katana gave her children her most serious expression. "Now, your father and I expect you two to behave yourselves. Am I understood."

"Yes, Mommy."

"Yeah, Mom."

The line moved quickly, and the group soon found themselves sitting at a round table near the center of the room. Wine was offered, and rejected by Lucy and Hudson, and then drink orders were taken and menus left.

The menus were studied carefully. "What do you recommend, Hudson, Lucy?"

"Nothing with fish," said Hudson quickly, aware of Lucy giving him a grateful look. "But the chicken's good. Any 'o their dishes. I think I'm goin' fer the tandoori roasted half a bird."

Lucy smiled. "They're free run birds, so they're larger and taste better than most store bought chicken. We're getting the quinoa pilaf?"

"'Course, love." Hudson put down the menu and let Jane out of the snuggli as she woke and crowed softly, sitting her on the table and gently taking her hat off as she turned her head and smiled at everyone.

"The steak sounds good," Brooklyn says, as he peruses the menu. "What're you getting, Kat?"

"One of the vegetarian dishes, I believe."

"Baba?" Jane asked softly as she reached for her mother, then giggled as Lucy took her and nuzzled her, purring softly.

Brooklyn chuckled. "Reminds me of when you were hatchlings, kids," he said. "You guys used to be so cute. Well, Nash did. You're still cute, Tachi."

"Hey!"

"Your father is kidding, Nashville. Isn't that correct."

"Uh, yeah, sure..." He laughed, then stopped at her glare. "You're still cute, Nash."
