Gargoyles 'Verse: Castle Wyvern: We are Family

The notion of slipping from one universe to the next when they felt like it was an alluring one, and the members of the Manhattan Clan of the universe where Elisa Maza had become a Gargoyle and where Brooklyn had danced the corridors of time and returned with a new family intended to enjoy it when possible.  So when an invitation had been extended, some of them had jumped at the chance.  With the mess going on with Angela right now, it was good to get the kids out of the house.

"Now," Brooklyn said as he, Katana, Nashville, and Tachi appeared in the courtyard, "you kids are gonna be on your best behavior, right?"

"Uh-huh," Tachi said.

"Yes, Dad," Nash added, rolling his eyes.

"And if the other me is there, what did I say to do?"

"Not listen to a word he says," Tachi giggled.

"Right."

And of course Jane reached for that smile.

"Let me know when you're tired of her," said Lucy as Hudson gave the waiter their order.

Katana pulled her head back just a little, out of the way of prying fingers. "That may take some time. Children are a rare joy."

Lucy chuckled and leaned on her fist, watching her daughter as the waiter stopped by Katana next for her order.

Katana gave her order, then Brooklyn his, who also ordered for the kids.

There was a little wait for the food, but Jane kept everyone entertained, especially when she decided that Nash needed a kiss and only she could give it.

"Bleagh," Nash said, trying to rub the kiss off his cheek.

"Careful, lad, ye'll hurt 'er feelings." Hudson chuckled.

Nash just rolled his eyes.

"Never roll yer eyes at a lady." The old gargoyle sobered and looked at him sternly.

The food arrived then, and Jane squealed excitedly and reached.

Katana smiled and offered Jane back to Lucy and Hudson. "Thank-you for letting me hold her."

"You're welcome." Lucy took the wriggly baby and passed her to her husband, who promptly handed the tiny girl a chicken bone and snuggled her on his lap as he bowed his head and rumbled a quick prayer before passing the plate for Lucy to dish herself some.

Katana went to work cutting Tachi's food, with a flurry of a steak house chef. Brooklyn, meanwhile, stopped Nash from trying to hide his vegetables in his napkin.

Sufficed to say, it was a good evening. A nice relaxing break from all the troubles at home.
