Elisa-garg's reality. Castle Wyvern. Alone on the battlement the day after halloween.

Icy shivered slightly as the cold autumn rain pattered down on her and trickled down her back, though she was oblivious to the chill. Her large eyes tracked the lights of the cars far below, then turned up to watch an airplane go over before closing as she softly murmured a prayer in the language of her birth. "(Master, keep my friend. Please help her to return to her roost soon. And comfort her mate and her clan.)"

She sighed and looked down again, her fine hair clinging sodden to her head, then unfurled her wings and poised to leap.

"I am afraid I do not understand this culture enough to know your humor," Chiyoko said apologetically.

Guinevere shook her head. "I was known for many things amongst my old Clan, but my sense of humor was not one of them."

Chiyoko blinked, then gingerly hugged the small girl with her wing.

Guin simply hung back and watched the exchange. She was never good with expressing her feelings, and especially not in the context of being a source of comfort.

"Agreed," the Japaneese garg smiled.

Guinevere smiled as well. "Agreed. Now, if I understand the tradition correctly, we must watch a movie while we eat this food."

Chiyoko picked up her sandwich and waited to follow the others.

"I am not certain that is what we are meant to watch," Guinevere said, as she started toward the TV room, "but I am willing to try."

"It sounds interesting to me," Chiyoko offered.

Upon entering the TV room, Guinevere gave the tv and vcr a critical look.

"Ah... I am not certain how to work these machines."

Chiyoko has no idea what was going on, so she settled on a chair and stared at the television, waiting.

Guin settled back in a chair of her own to watch.

Chiyoko blinked, staring at the screen, concentrating intensely. Her english was bad enough, but the way these people spoke... she hardly understood a word.

Guinevere watched the screen with interest, amusement, puzzlement, and an occasional flash--quickly covered--of contempt.

At a saloon scene, she asked, "Why do these women debase themselves for the entertainment of men?"

"It is tradition?" Chiyoko guessed, though this looked differant than the Geisha and other women of her own culture.

[identity profile] wingsofdestine.livejournal.com 2007-11-14 09:44 pm (UTC)(link)
"I suppose..." she considered. "Humans are strange creatures. Modern times have only made them more so."

Chiyoko watched the movie in interest. So this was the culture that bred the white man of this region. She suddenly understood a bit more about the country she was in.
