In a new place.... again.

Kurt woke slowly, his head hurting and telling him about his restless night. He turned slightly in his book, and turned, looking up and seeing a large canopy above him. He blinked and looked up, to his surprise seeing a few globes of light hovering above him.

He sat up, finding himself fully clothed, and turned, pushing the curtains aside slightly, only to see Joy, curled up, asleep on the windowsill that only belonged in castles.

He slowly got up and eased off the bed, then went over, picking her up, careful of her wings, doing his best not to wake her as he lifted her and brought her over to the bed, putting her down on it and making her comfortable before he looked around, wondering where they were now.

He took it and kissed it once more, looking at her.

"Please...vatever I meant zose ozzer times... I zink it vas desperation. But know now, fraulin... know.... I love you, vith all my heart und soul und being. I love you."

He felt her shiver as her eyes widened. Then she was weeping softly with bowed head.

He froze, feeling his stomach plummet, and let go of her hand.

"F-fraulin?" he whispered softly, terrified he'd lost her in the same way he'd lost the others.

She shook her head and tried to speak as she quickly took it again and held it to her cheek, but the weight of joy and release from the thought of being alone was too great. All she could do was wrap her wing more firmly around him and try not to shake them loose from their perch with their sobs.

He finally realized she wasn't recoiling in fear or disgust, and wrapped his arms around her.

"Shh, fraulin, it's ok," he said, smiling into her hair and rubbing her back.

"I'm happy," she managed to whisper at last, her head once more on his shoulder and her arms around him. "I'm happy."

Joy sighed and nuzzled closer, closing her eyes and just breathing the smell of him and feeling the sureness of his touch. She felt as though her heart was going to explode; she'd never felt such joy and content.

He sighed happily, kissing her cheek, more than content to stay right there with her forever.
