In a new place.... again.

Kurt woke slowly, his head hurting and telling him about his restless night. He turned slightly in his book, and turned, looking up and seeing a large canopy above him. He blinked and looked up, to his surprise seeing a few globes of light hovering above him.

He sat up, finding himself fully clothed, and turned, pushing the curtains aside slightly, only to see Joy, curled up, asleep on the windowsill that only belonged in castles.

He slowly got up and eased off the bed, then went over, picking her up, careful of her wings, doing his best not to wake her as he lifted her and brought her over to the bed, putting her down on it and making her comfortable before he looked around, wondering where they were now.

She blushed deeply, affected by the pride of her mother's people for their flame and their wings, then held out the bubbling cheese for him to reach.

He smiled and took some, then chuckled.

"So, you are beautiful, powerful, compassionet, forgiving, und kind... how do I know you are not a dream?"

Blushing even more deeply, she reached over without lifting her eyes and gave him a gentle pinch on the leg.

He yelped and jumped, then chuckled and gave her a quick kiss on the cheek.

She set the melted cheese aside on a plate, then picked up some of the softer stuff and tasted it, ears twitching in delight at the flavor. "I like this'un. But the others're...." She shuddered eloquently.

He smiled. "It is a good choice," he agreed.

Her eyes crinkled at the corners as she finished it. Then she peered into the basket and looked at him. "I think ve ate most of it."

He smiled, and looked at his own mostly gone plate, then looked at her. "Nectur und bee hunting?" he inquired.
